After a years lay off, the unbeaten champion from 2004 made a winning comeback in the final round of the Swedish Rally Championships.
But it was a close call that the return to rally had to be cancelled. For the whole week running up to the rally, Thomas suffered from a stomach disorder and high fever. In the last minute it was decided that he should give it a try.
During the first few stages there were some problems with concentration and finding a rhythm, but before the end of the first leg Thomas was winning stages and ended day one in second position overall.
A stage win in SS7, the first of Leg Two on Saturday, put Thomas on top of the table. From there on he was never really challenged and finally won the rally. It was a nice comeback on the special stages, and probably this could lead to some other outings.
